PASSPORT UPDATE

Since there has been so much confusion over returning to the US from Puerto Penasco, we decided to drive to the border and inquire about the implementation of new regulations coming in 2008. According to Immigration, these are the requirements for driving and walking across the border from Mexico to the United States after January 31, 2008, without a valid US Passport.
All US citizens 19 years and older will be required to present a certified birth certificate and a government identification with photograph.
All US citizens 18 years and younger will be required to present a certified birth certificate.
We do recommend that all US citizens regardless of age who possess valid State or Federal Identification, present those documents as well. Furthermore, a passport is always the best option. To expedite your entry, please have all documentation prepared to hand to the officer.
